MEET LYNN
I. Lynn Garriott Porter was born in Fulton, Missouri, and grew up living in the country, loving the natural beauty of her surroundings. Art was her first love, and watercolor was her first medium of choice. Later in life she discovered colored pencil and gained a new love. She found with watercolor pencil she gets the pleasure of both mediums in one.
Lynn’s paintings have been exhibited in numerous shows, galleries, hospitals, businesses, cafes, and competitions in central, eastern, and northeastern Missouri regions. She is a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America, Missouri Watercolor Society, and a Juried Best of Missouri Hands Artist. She was selected as the February 2008 profiled artist in Ann Kullberg’s Colored Pencil e-zine, “From My Perspective,” and chosen to have one of her watercolor pencil paintings in Ann Kullberg’s book, “Colored Pencil Secrets to Success” and one of her colored pencil portraits in “Colored Pencil Cats & Dogs.”
Most of her life, art was only a part-time passion as she was employed full-time. As a result, many of her works have been primarily commissioned. She still loves doing commissioned work and now loves teaching art classes.
